If Keanu Reeves was a webmaster that's probably what he's say.
Those of you unfortunate to have been subected to "Bill and Ted's Torturous Journeys" will understand when I say that trying to boost Pagerank is like trying to score points with the devil himself. You could end up selling your soul for it.
But I'm letting my imagination run wild. :-)
There's a lot of speculation that the value of Pagerank has been diminishing in the way Google ranks sites. In fact, a recent Pagerank "update" caused almost as much heartburn among webmasters as the "Florida update."
Lots of sites saw their PR drop while others saw it go up. Its possible that Google reassigned PR to devalue the PR from certain types of pages, but again, that's pure speculation on my part.
However PR is still important if you're trying to rank well for competitive terms.
Here's a cool tool you can use to find High PR partners to get a link back from.
Prog - the PageRank search engine from SEO Chat
Just type in a keyword or keyphrase related to the kind of website you want a link back from (like "weight loss" or "home business") and you'll get a list of all the High-PR websites related to that keyphrase.
Now you can check if they accept link partners and exchange links with them. Or you could buy a text link ad if they sell ad space.
Another tool that you can use for this is
PR Prowler, but it ain't free.
So go make that date with the devil, dude. ;-)
