There are rumours floating around that Google is secretly updating and raising PageRank value for Adwords customers.
Here's why I seriously doubt the veracity of this.
1. Google's motto is "Do No Evil" I doubt they would change this to "do evil only unto those who do not pay us for ads". I still believe that Google is one of the most fair search engines, albeit with an imperfect algorighm that lends itself only too easily to spam and abuse.
2. It makes NO SENSE whatsoever for Google to do thisWhat could they possibly hope to gain from it? An influx of advertising? I seriously doubt that.
Google's PR pdate is long overdue, possibly on as I write this. So I suspect what people are really seeing is the
PR finally being assigned to new sites - whether they have an Adwords campaign or not.
This is NOT the same as Google raising Pagerank, just the long overdue update taking place.
I may be wrong, of course, and if I am, I'll be the first to admit it right here on this blog. :-)
Watch out for updates on this...
