Lee Lefever of Common Craft, an independent consultancy that helps businesses discover and manage online communities and weblogs has conducted a case study documenting best practices in using a weblog to achieve #1 rankings in Google
He found that the way to achieve high rankings in Google required a combination of a few basic strategies:
- Effective writing
- Defining a niche
- Naming categories
- Weblog format
- Consistency
In sum, the rankings were achieved by defining a niche, targeting search phrases, naming categories for each phrase, and writing effectively about subjects related to each category.
